The Media and the GOP

Peter Daou explains clearly why the mainstream media is so closely aligned with the GOP. Part of it has to do with access, of course, and another part to do with shared corporate interests. But another part is that the Republicans have skilfully negotiated a position where they are the party of strength, commitment and resolve when the country is paralyzed with fear. By sticking to this storyline, it doesn't matter when a million stories emerge that show a pattern of incompetence, corruption and abuse of power. The public isn't looking for that storyline, because it hasn't been presented to them. "A single storyline is more effective than a thousand stories."
